When Do You Recommend IV Sedation?
In this video, Dr. Chance McLemore explains when IV sedation may be recommended to make dental treatment more comfortable and less stressful.
IV sedation is great for many situations. Some people just have a difficult time getting numb, especially on their lower teeth when we’re working, so it’s great to be sedated. You numb up easier. Also, for longer procedures, if you have a lot of work to get done and not a lot of time to do it in, it’s so much easier on the patient just to be sedated. We can go in and do our work, and then we wake you up when it’s over, and it’s like no time has passed.
And people who just, let’s be honest, don’t like coming to the dentist or who have fear, it’s great for these people as well. You can come in, we can sedate you, you’re nice and relaxed, there’s an amnesic effect where you don’t remember the appointment, and it just creates a whole new experience for everyone.
If you are interested in IV sedation, when we review your treatment plan, we will include the price of sedation in your treatment plan, so there are no questions about what your out-of-pocket cost will be.
