A traditional dental bridge is a restorative solution designed to replace one or more missing teeth. It consists of a series of crowns fused together, with a false tooth (pontic) in the middle to fill the gap. This structure functions as a single, solid unit.
During your appointment, the teeth on either side of the gap will be prepared, and impressions will be taken to fabricate the bridge. At your follow-up visit, the final bridge will be cemented in place. With proper care, including regular six-month cleanings and checkups, a traditional bridge can last 30 to 40 years.
A standard traditional bridge typically replaces one missing tooth, making it a three-unit bridge. However, bridges can replace multiple teeth, spanning up to six missing teeth if needed. In addition to restoring function, a bridge can improve the color, size, and shape of your teeth, enhancing your overall smile.
