Why Do Upper and Lower Implant Dentures Have Different Costs?
In this video, Dr. Thomas Hanson explains how extractions, bone grafting, and individual treatment needs affect implant denture costs.
The cost of a lower implant-retained denture and an upper implant-retained denture, or even the cost for different people getting the same treatment, could vary. Mainly, that’s because one person may have 5 remaining teeth, while another person may have 8 or 9 remaining teeth. So the cost of extractions causes a difference in the pricing.
Also, some people may need more bone grafts, or even bone grafts plus a membrane. A membrane is used when there’s not enough buccal plate bone and we have to try to maintain the buccal plate and keep it from collapsing, because if it collapses, then you can’t have the implant. So that would affect the cost.
