Will I Need a Retainer After My Teeth Are Straightened?

In this video, Dr. JoEllen Havron explains the importance of retainers after orthodontic treatment and how they help maintain your results. Schedule a consultation at Riviera Dental Care to learn about the best retention plan for your new smile.

I like to inform patients upfront that after completing the active phase of treatment, we transition into the stabilization phase. During this time, retainers play a crucial role in maintaining the results achieved with ClearCorrect or other orthodontic treatments.

Right after finishing treatment, I recommend wearing retainers for at least 18 hours a day for the first three to six months. This allows the teeth to settle and stabilize in their new position. Once the teeth feel secure and no longer loose, patients can transition to wearing retainers only at night to maintain their alignment long-term.

What is the best method to replace missing teeth? While traditional bridges and dentures are effective, they often lack the stability most patients look for in a tooth loss solution. Mini Implants Are a Simpler Way To Restore Your Smile

Losing a tooth as a child is an exciting rite of passage. As we grow up, our adult teeth push our baby teeth out, erupting from the gums to replace them. Losing a tooth as an adult, however, is a whole different story. When you lose an adult tooth—also known as a permanent tooth—no replacement is coming. Our natural teeth are essential as they allow us to speak, eat, [...]
