What Should a Full-Mouth Dental Implant Quote Include?

In this video, Dr. Thomas Hanson explains the steps involved in full-mouth implant treatment, from initial evaluation and planning to final restoration and maintenance.

Here at Riviera Dental, when you come in for a full workup for full-mouth implants, we start with a good past medical history. We go over your medicines and your health history and whatnot. Then we also take a CBCT, and we have a tool that allows us to virtually place implants on the screen inside your bone and then pick out the right diameter, size, and length, and what will fit you the best.

Once we find that you have enough bone and everything, and we’ve selected the implants, we’ll write it all down, submit it to insurance, and then get your out-of-pocket cost to you.

Then after that’s over, if you agree to treatment, we’ll get you back. We’ll probably take impressions, diagnostic casts, maybe some more X-rays, and decide if you’re going to have to have any teeth removed and bone grafts placed. We’d get that out of the way, do any restorations that are on teeth that we’re going to save, and maybe crown some.

Then once we decide where the implants are going, we’d get you back in with a surgical guide and place the implant. Then there’s a 3-month healing period for that to heal, and then you’d come back.

We’d unscrew the little cover cap that’s on the implant, and then we’d scan that and send that to the lab for your prefab or custom abutment and the crown. Then while you’re waiting that 2-week period for the crown to come back, we just place the cover screw or healing abutment back on top of the implant.

Once the crown comes in from the lab, you come back. We’d take off the little cover screw and then place your abutment, and then either screw your crown on or cement it on top of your abutment, and then you’re done.

If you’re a candidate for multiple extractions and we’re doing multiple implants, we’d once again get a surgical guide and place 6 to 8 implants, depending on the size and the amount of bone that we’ve got available for you. Then you’d wear a temporary interim denture at that point while we’re letting that heal, and then you’d come back after that 3 months.

We’d assess the bone and then order the implant surgical guide and place your implants in there. Then you’d come back after that, and in 3 months, we’d place all the scan bodies in the 6 to 8 implants, scan them, and send off for your full-arch restoration.

Once that full-arch restoration comes in, we’d basically take off the screws again and then place the full-arch restoration with either screws or cementation.

Once your full-arch restoration is placed, we’ll get you back probably in a week or 2 and check up on you and make any necessary adjustments. We would also like you to come back every 6 months and have them checked.

Sometimes we’ll actually unscrew them, take the restoration off, check everything, make sure it’s doing good, and then put it back on, depending on what kind of full-arch restoration you have. Sometimes we don’t have to take it off. We just need to check them all, make sure you’re cleaning them right, and make sure everything’s going good for you.
