A root canal is a procedure used to remove infected or damaged soft tissue from inside a tooth. This soft tissue, known as the pulp, contains nerves and blood vessels that can become infected due to bacteria or injury, leading to pain and swelling.
During a root canal, we clean out the infected pulp, eliminating the source of the infection. Once the area is disinfected, we fill the space with a rubbery filling material to provide strength and stability to the tooth. This prevents further infection and allows the tooth to function normally.
A root canal helps save the natural tooth, preventing the need for extraction while relieving pain and restoring oral health.
